1.  Forms of possible cooperation among libraries in the V4 in the context of the national librarian concepts for the 2016 – 2020 period

Transformations of concepts of library work in a situation of change of the statute and function of libraries in society, possible responses to new tools and technologies in librarianship and their use. The position of librarian work in relation to the cultural policy of the state and remodelling of the relationship between the library/librarian and the reader. The position of libraries in the world of the 21st century.

(Contributions from national libraries of V4 countries.)

2. Central virtual instruments for accessing the values of cultural heritage

Modern technology allows in a previously unprecedented scale the centralisation of sources of information, and the provision of online services. This trend is present also in libraries that build increasingly sophisticated portals, bring together information and services not only of libraries but also of other originators. This block of the program thematises methods, ways and opportunities of aggregation and centralized access to cultural heritage and associated services, problems and possible solutions, as well as the issue of building of multinational portals.

3. Legal aspects of digitisation

The program block opens the question of access to copyrighted works in digital form through libraries, the issue of orphan works, works unavailable in the market, lending of e-books from domestic production, negotiations with authors, publishers, distributors, concluding of cumulative licenses for access to digital documents, and the price of licenses. The attention will be also paid to legislation of collecting, permanent preservation and accessibility of born digital documents (e-deposit), archiving and accessibility of the website linked to copyright and data protection – current status, experience, perspectives.

4. Professional librarian – the object and subject of the educational process

One of the most important aspects of the development of librarianship is the cooperation of vocational and library schools. Their curricula must reflect the current needs in the field and also they have to monitor future trends so that graduates could find long-term use in practice. Therefore we welcome contributions that describe real cooperation, examples of good practice and projects jointly implemented by libraries and academic institutions with a direct impact in the field, and on the personal growth of the students.

We would like you to consider your participation in the conference.  We believe that your experience will contribute to common goal of our meeting and it will become a quality impulse for our conceptual and particular work. We also expect that the topics will find wide resonance not only in the context of libraries of our countries.

Each contribution should not exceed the time limit of 15 minutes. One of the outcomes of the conference is the publication of proceedings that could represent an inspirational material and an impulse for our further work. The publication of proceedings will be available at the time of the conference. For this reason, all contributions must be submitted (in English) by January 30 2016.

You are invited to submit your abstract in English (max. 300 words) including the name of the article, and name, title and sending organization(s) of the contributor(s) by 27th November to the address of Sona.Sinclova@mzk.cz.

We are looking forward to your contribution.

On behalf of the Organising and Program Committee,
