This talk will explore the impact of the recent protest throughout the U.S. following the police killings
of several unarmed black persons. It will explore the historical roots of African American distrust of police agencies, tracing back to slavery and throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. It will also show why these widespread protests have been extremely important in raising public consciousness about the problems
of continuing racism in America and why these actions are necessary in order to make improvements
in the daily lives of African American and other minority residents.
