The Milan Kundera Library houses a huge number of various editions of Milan Kundera’s works published in 50 different languages, arranged according to the individual titles. The collection is made up mostly from Kundera’s novels, essays, plays, and early poetry. Besides these, the collection includes forewords, introductions, epilogues, and annotations found in works by other writers as well as journals and newspapers in which Kundera published. Besides Kundera’s work, the library provides a number of scholarly works on his life and oeuvre.

We invite you and your students to the Milan Kundera Library for educational events for high school students. Under the guidance of an experienced lecturer, students will deepen their knowledge of the works of Milan Kundera and delve into the interpretation of his selected works. All this in the inspiring environment of the Milan Kundera Library.

The Milan Kundera Library creates a space where literatures, cultures, and people meet. Its international activities include residency programs designed for writers and translators.
The residencies offer authors the opportunity to focus on their own literary or translation work in the inspiring environment of Brno, while getting to know the Czech cultural and literary scene. An integral part of the stay is sharing experiences with the public through discussions, author readings, and other programs hosted by the Milan Kundera Library.
At the same time, these residential stays foster international literary exchange and a dialogue between Czech and foreign cultures. This creates opportunities not only to work on specific literary projects, but also to build long-term professional connections.
The program is based on the conviction that literature crosses the boundaries of languages and countries—and that bringing different cultural perspectives together is one of the best ways to vibrantly keep Milan Kundera's legacy alive. Beyond being a research and cultural center, the Library thus becomes a place for the creation of new literature and international cooperation.
